Flutist Romana Goumare is performing internationally with many of the world’s foremost conductors and instrumentalists. She collaborates with orchestras like Münchner Philharmoniker, Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, The Hague Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonie Zuid, Münchner Symphoniker, Münchener Kammerorchester and Netherlands Radio Chamber Orchestra. She worked with renowned conductors like Claudio Abbado, Zubin Mehta, Valery Gergiev, Semyon Bychkov, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Franz Welser-Möst, Reinbert de Leeuw and Frans Brüggen. During her studies Romana was a member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, Verbier Festival Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of The Netherlands.
Born in Amsterdam, Romana graduated from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague as a student of Eline van Esch. She obtained her masterdiploma with distinction and was awarded the Irene Burcher Memorial Prize while studying with Michael Cox, Kate Hill and Keith Bragg at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Romana attended in masterclasses with Janos Balint, Sebastian Bell, William Bennett, Emily Beynon, Robert Dick, Jaime Martin, Patricia Morris and Jacques Zoon. At the age of 12 she made her first appearance on national television as a soloist for the National Youth Orchestra of The Netherlands.
As a chamber musician Romana works regularly with pianists Ani Avramova and Femke de Graaf. Together with the Darius Ensemble she performed in the Netherlands' most important musical centres in the context of the Debut Series. She regularly performs in concert halls like Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Philharmonie Berlin, Royal Albert Hall in London, Philharmonie im Gasteig Munich and Musikverein in Vienna. In addition Romana plays at festivals worldwide, including the BBC Proms, Edinburgh Festival, Lucerne Festival, Verbier Festival, Salzbürger Festspiele and Holland Festival.
Romana resides with her family in Amsterdam and Munich.
